About KATHLEEN CORBETT

My name is Kathleen Ann Pacheco-Corbett. I was raised in East Providence, RI.  When I got married  in 1969,  I moved to Pawtucket.and on to Lincoln in 1971, and have been a resident here since that time.
I love God, my family, friends, all people, young and old, all nationalities.  I am Mom to two adult sons, both college graduates.  Messiah and Clemson, and U Mass Amherst, Grandma to two awesome grandsons,  and Wife of 38 years on the 28th of June, to a wonderful friend and business partner.

 I have always loved to help and talk with people and to sell. I began selling  all occasion cards and Christmas cards at the age of 9. I was the first-born in my family of Portuguese descent and had early responsibilities to help the family. I wanted to go to college so I needed to raise money for tuition and did so by working in a market and selling items I would make. I sold many Easter Corsages, made with Kleenix, and candy wreathes. I had an early passion for working with my hands. I love crafts. I knit, crochet, needlepoint, paint, draw, and make cards. I went to RHODE ISLAND COLLEGE, Syracuse University and earned my Bachelor of Science and my Masters in teaching.  I majored in education and art. Upon graduating I taught for several years as an upper elementary teacher and later after my masters as a junior high art instructor. I would probably be still teaching art if my community in the early 70's had a maternity leave. I had to early retire/resign from teaching to raise a family and it was at this time that I began a real estate business with my husband.

When I left teaching in order to bring in some extra income, since by husband had torn the cartilage of his knee while watching our 15 month old son, while I was at college at night working on my masters, I began selling Avon. I am still selling Avon since 1972. I still love Avon and the customers I work with. Probably will be selling Avon until the day I die.....

Having worked at an indoor flea market for several years I accumulated so many unique gift items that I decided to close the flea market business and bring the shop to a room in our real estate office, Kathleen's Avon Boutique and More.

I love to collect and buy candles and items with butterflies and roses.
 When I am not working I spend time reading, mostly self-help books and listening to cassettes or CDs while I walk. I walk a minimum of 1-2 miles per day and on several days up to 3 miles.  I began to change my lifestyle in 2004 when I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes at a Providence Health Fair. I was walking around without knowing I had this condition. With the care of a great pro-active Doctor and nutritionist, I have it under control by exercise and diet and minimizing my stress level. One of the reasons I love AVON, a great relaxer and stress reliever.

AVON has been great therapy for me.  When I went to see the birth of my first and new grandson in South Carolina August 2004, I received a call from my sister that I needed to return to RI not to celebrate my Mom's 83rd birthday on August 25th but to attend her funeral. This was not expected and was sudden. I was devastated and lost. She has gone home to heaven. She is so greatly missed and always in my heart.
I have chosen to live one day at a time, smell the flowers and the fresh air. I have added a blessing to our family, our 4 yr old most lovable beagle, Buddy, born March 27, 2003 (co-incidently my late Dad's Birthday.He provides so much love by his many kisses. He accompanies me when I take my many walks.  I am filled with so much love that I need to give some away, and Buddy is the answer, especially since my grandsons are 19 hours away and I cannot be with them. Someday!

Now as I enter my AARP years, I once again want to become a President Club member and a top recruiter. Receiving these prestigious honors will provide me with many endorphenes to keep my body healthy and to live many more years. I have a friend who just turned 101 and is an active Toastmaster. I would love to get to that age and still be selling Avon and helping people build an Avon business and add income for their goals in life. With the help of all my friends, family, and Avon customers, existing and new to become, and God's blessing, this may happen:)
